My Pick

It's like Sammy told Malcolm X from the movie of the same name about his boss West Indian Archie: My rep is on the line. After a great start picking the playoff games, it has come down to this year's Super Bowl for my picking success for this year. I'm at .500 going into this matchup.

If you were expecting detailed analysis and solid position breakdown of this game, you came to the wrong place. I'll just tell you who I think will win and why.

I went against my formula and picked the 49ers over the Giants in the NFC title game. Last year I started the BreezyG Mo Train. This was the team that I thought was on a roll and was the team that had the serious momentum (get it?) going into the playoffs. Last year's team was the Packers. My candidate for this year was the Saints, who were on their Whootie who tour. But once again, they could not win a road playoff game.

My Super Bowl pick this year is the New York Giants. Beside not losing a game in more than two months, they are this year's road warriors. They have the elite QB (that's right, I said it) in Eli Manning, enough of a running game and i'll stack their receivers corps against the Pats. Their defense is powered by their pass rush, which is (maybe) comparable to the Steelers front four from back in the day...isn't it?

Now on the other side, a famous journalist used to say that the Pats have Tom Brady and, quite frankly, that's all they need. Still kind of the case. But the Patriots still have a underrated running game and solid (and experienced) receivers crew. Still think that Ocho Sinko will play a part in this game. I think Brady is giving everybody the fake-out, concerned e-mail from his wife aside. He will be ready. The Pats problem will be keeping the New York Funky Four off of him.

So this year, stayin with my formula and picking the team that's on the Mo Train and got the swag: The G-Men.
